Healthy eating remains a challenge

  • 24 January 2020

For many people, eating healthier food is not just a good intention, more and more often the start of the new year is seen as picking up the thread again. For a large part of the Dutch, healthier food is the order of the day, although this is not always easy, especially for families with children. This is evident from the study 'Healthier Food' by Albert Heijn, carried out by Blauw Research.

Families find it more difficult

Six out of ten parents find it difficult to get their children to eat healthily. For example, 33% indicate that their child is seduced more by unhealthy food than by healthy food. A quarter misses inspiration to make their children eat healthily. And for 20%, the problem lies in the price: according to them, healthy food is more expensive.

Uncertainty about daily amounts

Two out of five respondents indicated that they certainly get their daily quantity of vegetables. The same number of respondents were in doubt about it and 20% said they certainly didn't eat enough vegetables. In addition, only a quarter of the respondents knew the correct daily quantity of vegetables, i.e. 250 grams. Almost half of the respondents think this is 200 grams.
