Which technological developments are gaining traction in the food industry? What are the challenges in implementing them? And what do companies offer to overcome these challenges? The Food Tech Event brings it all together under one roof. Four exhibitors offer a preview of how they contribute to the event experience.
This year’s Food Tech Event offers a true one-stop-shop experience. Producers and processors in the food industry will find everything they need for their production or processing lines in one place—from advanced machinery, cleaning systems and packaging solutions to flooring and gas climate technologies. See for yourself how to produce more efficiently and more hygienically, without compromising on quality, food safety or hygiene.
We asked four exhibitors how they contribute to the one-stop-shop concept, what developments they see in the sector, and how they help their customers put them into practice. Kees van Delft (PD Gas Technology), Hendrik Ruys (Ruys Groep), Frits Wernsen (Simply-Mover), and Maarten Kooij (VSD Food Machinery) know the day-to-day challenges and the smart solutions that make a real difference.
Kees sees the one-stop-shop principle reflected in their daily work: “For us, it’s normal—and important—that all parties involved in the packaging process work together seamlessly. The end customer never works with just one supplier; multiple parties are always involved. The process has to offer the best solution and run smoothly.”
Hendrik fully supports the principle: “We offer a one-stop-shop for everything construction-related. We provide floors—from sloping bases to finished floors with drains, gullies, and bump rails—everything below knee level. And through our partners at Cold Care, we now also offer walls and doors for interior structures. From advice and execution to warranty—start to finish.”
Frits shares his take: “We’re an essential part of any food company’s ‘shop process’ when it comes to ergonomic working. Whether setting up a new line or adjusting an existing process, there’s always work involving pushing, pulling or lifting. We make that smarter and easier—with tailor-made solutions.”
Maarten doesn’t hesitate when asked about their contribution: “We deliver everything in the area of smoking, cooking, baking and grilling—machines, support, advice and training. Thanks to our close involvement, we’ve noticed that more attention should be paid to cleaning performance. We make that easier by automating it. Everything under one roof.”
The experts highlight several trends: increasing system integration, reducing risk and liability, optimising processes to work more efficiently, sustainably and intelligently, a tight labour market, an ageing workforce, and changing legislation around healthier and lighter work as well as construction. More and more companies are choosing to renovate or refurbish rather than build from scratch.
Kees: “We’re seeing more and more system integration. Together with machine builders, we ensure our gas mixer is properly integrated into the packaging line. Another key area is inline leak testing. A supermarket can’t afford to sell a pack with even a single spoiled product. One faulty pack out of 100,000 might seem minor—but if a consumer posts a photo of it on social media, the damage is done. Our clients rely on our support and service to deliver the highest quality.”
Maarten focuses on process optimisation: “Our technology makes the traditional smoking process 70% faster—without sacrificing smoke quality. What used to require a smoke master is now measured by our wood-fired machines, which can adjust the process automatically. This boosts production capacity by 25 to 30 percent while reducing emissions at the same time.”
He gives an example of a client with five smoke chambers and five chimneys, who wanted to expand but was denied a permit for a sixth chimney. VSD converted the existing smoke chambers to a more sustainable version. As a result, the client now has the output equivalent of seven conventional chambers—without any structural changes.
“As an employer, you want to take good care of your staff. So they want to keep doing their job—and are able to,” Frits explains. “Employees are getting older, so it’s essential to offer the right tools. Our machines and customised hooks help make the job easier and lighter. Investing in your staff keeps them healthy, motivated and, most importantly, committed.”
“Our main focus is helping clients realise their construction goals while minimising downtime,” Hendrik adds. “During renovation or refurbishment, we assess and deliver based on needs—considering factors like existing height, load-bearing capacity, drainage, structure, sewage and so on. We advise on the right materials for each situation. The right floor in the right place. Then we move quickly, using our special concrete that cures in just one day.”
In response to growing demand for staff retention and easier workflows, VSD Food Machinery is showcasing its latest smokehouse with an electrostatic smoke system, an automatic cleaning system, and FerSol—an innovative oxidant that’s 63% stronger than chlorine, enabling deep and eco-friendly cleaning. Maarten: “It’s virtually indestructible, and ideal for heavy-duty cleaning—automated, with no staff required, and guaranteed quality. Spotless in just 30 minutes.”
PD Gas Technology is presenting its gas mixer, analytical tools and leak detection solutions, and welcomes conversations with (potential) clients about their packaging process. Kees: “We aim for long-term partnerships. After meeting, we analyse the packaging process to arrive at the best solution—for the long haul.”
Ruys Groep invites visitors to experience what they can offer in construction, renovation or refurbishment. From engineering input to choosing the right floors, drainage, walls, doors and finishing details. Hendrik: “We’ve got the full package—plus samples. Visitors want to feel the materials, not just see pictures.”
Finally, Simply-Mover welcomes visitors to see their stainless-steel machinery up close. Frits: “We’ll show two standard machines—a stainless-steel lifting aid and some customised hooks. All designed to make lifting, pushing and pulling a whole lot easier. So stop straining yourself—work smarter and enjoy your job more!”
