CONO Kaasmakers opened its new cheese production facility last year. Since much of the data that is generated during the process is stored automatically, operators no longer need to perform administrative tasks. Instead, they can fully focus on producing the unique CONO cheeses. The various information systems within the factory are connected to QIS, which is where the process information is registered. Data about yield and material usage is automatically transferred to the ERP system.
CONO has opted for data to be exchanged between QIS and the other information systems via XML messages. This makes use of QIS’s new XML Import and Export Interface which forms part of the QIS ProcessLink Module. The advantage of this module is that, thanks to its simple and flexible configuration, it is able to convert the XML format supplied by a system into a format that is compatible with QIS. Furthermore, QIS can easily supply an XML message in a format that can be handled by the system receiving it.
Jos Hensen from Greywise Consultancy, manager of the automation project for the new cheese production facility, comments: “Thanks to the use of the configurable QIS XML-interface, the development time has been drastically reduced. The integration costs are also lower because the other system-providers do not need to adapt their interfaces. The conversion is done quickly and flexibly using the QIS XML interface.”
A standard XML infrastructure has been agreed with Alfa-Beta Solutions so that this interface can also be used by other customers without any modifications. “When integrating solutions, it’s important to be certain that the connection also works ‘out of the box’. This interface demonstrates that customers no longer need to be concerned about integration. QiSOFT provides the plug and the socket,” states Frank Resink (Director of Alfa-Beta Solutions).
