Compaxo plans proposed acquisi­tion of Gepo Vleeswaren and Kroon Vleeswaren­fab­riek

Compaxo Groep B.V. is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with the shareholders of Gepo Vastgoed B.V. regarding its intention to acquire Gepo Vleeswaren B.V. in Nieuw-Vennep and Kroon Vleeswarenfabriek Zwaagwesteinde B.V. in Zwaagwesteinde, hereinafter jointly referred to as Gepo Kroon.

With this intended acquisition, Compaxo is taking an important step in further strengthening its core activities, particularly within the processed meat category and the related segment of liver sausage products and other specialities.

A long family history in processed meats

Both Gepo and Kroon Vleeswaren have a rich family history in the Dutch processed meat industry. Gepo originated in 1958 and grew from a traditional sausage-making business in Hoofddorp into a specialised processed meat producer. Kroon's history dates back to 1870, when a butcher's shop was established in Groningen, which later grew into a nationally recognised processed meat brand. Since 2006, Kroon has been part of Gepo and in 2021, Kroon was recognised as a Royal Warrant Holder, in recognition of many years of quality and craftsmanship.

The combination of family tradition, entrepreneurship and craftsmanship naturally aligns with what Compaxo stands for as a Family Food Company: Tastefully Honest Tradition. With the intended merger, Compaxo turns its sights towards the future, with respect for the past. Generations of craftsmanship will thereby continue in a modern form.

Combining expertise and scale

In Compaxo's view, the combination of both companies offers attractive opportunities for further growth and development. At the same time, the acquisition offers new opportunities for the activities and brands of Gepo Kroon, including through the exchange of knowledge and expertise and by leveraging synergies in logistics, product development, the product portfolio and packaging. By making Gepo Kroon part of Compaxo, it can make use of shared scale, knowledge and infrastructure, enabling it to meet the increasing demands from society and legislation and regulations.

The transaction will be further formalised over the coming period, including the necessary consultation and approval processes and the remaining agreements.
