In addition to extra money to stimulate investments in environmentally and climate-friendly techniques for entrepreneurs, the government will allocate an extra € 10 million to initiatives in the field of the circular economy in 2020.
Compared to 2019, the new Environmental List offers more opportunities for entrepreneurs who invest in dismantling, products made from recycled materials and recycled agriculture. Sustainable transport is also high on the list. For example, the purchase of electric vans for target group transport will become extra attractive in 2020. In addition, the scheme will focus more on reducing nitrogen emissions.
The government stimulates entrepreneurs to invest sustainably. An amount of € 149 million is available for this purpose in 2020 through the Environmental Investment Allowance (MIA) and Arbitrary Depreciation of Environmental Investments (Vamil) tax schemes.
New on the Environmental List is production equipment for making products that are easier to disassemble after use for re-use or recycling. Dismantling equipment will also qualify in 2020.
The requirements for processing (chemically) recycled plastics have been relaxed. Investments in circular entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector are also more explicitly eligible for MIA-Vamil. For example, the new Environmental List offers advantages for the production of biobased materials by the agricultural sector.
In 2020, the MIAVamil offers more advantages for circular construction. The distinction between heated and unheated buildings has disappeared. For industrial buildings with an industrial function, the list sets additional conditions.
Finally, the purchase of electric vehicles is stimulated. In 2020, companies are allowed to deduct 36% of the purchase value of electric vans for target group transport from their (profit) tax, provided they meet the conditions. In 2019 this was still 27%.
From 3 to 7 February 2020 it will be the Week of the Circular Economy. At more than 100 locations throughout the Netherlands, circular entrepreneurs, organisations and government institutions will share their experiences and tips on the circular economy.
