ŸNFABRE is the first industrial genetic selection programme for large-scale insect breeders. The programme is designed to provide concrete answers to food safety challenges and to alleviate environmental pressures in line with French, European and international programmes for a sustainable economy. The programme brings together multiple expertises and innovations to develop techniques for phenotyping (biological properties) and genotyping (identification of variations in the genome), mathematical models and industrial processes. After a pioneering research phase, the first selection and breeding facility of ŸNFABRE will be set up in France and operational by 2026.
