What’s Cooking? made a significant move: on October 18, 2024, the food group announced an agreement with AURELIUS to sell its Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Savoury. This deal is part of a broader plan that began earlier this year, in which What’s Cooking? has been exploring strategic options to increase shareholder value. With this intended sale, the group sets its sights on growth and renewal in its other activities.
AURELIUS, a globally active investor with expertise in business carve-outs, has been identified by What’s Cooking? as the ideal partner to ensure a smooth transition for SBU Savoury. The investor brings both international and local expertise to help grow this savoury division further. Their team is prepared to support Savoury’s management and establish the division firmly in the market under new ownership.
With €464 million in revenue in 2023, SBU Savoury is a strong pillar within the group, but CEO Piet Sanders sees ample opportunities to shift focus toward the growth of Prepared Meals. Investment and responsiveness to market developments are priorities here. The transaction is expected to complete by the end of 2024 or early 2025, pending the necessary approvals.
