Virto Group, the leading Spanish producer and distributor of frozen vegetables, has acquired Oerlemans Foods Group. Oerlemans is a producer and supplier of fresh frozen fruit and vegetables based in Waalwijk, the Netherlands.
The acquisition strengthens Virto's position in the growing international market for fresh frozen fruit and vegetables. Joining forces with Oerlemans offers significant synergy benefits in multiple areas and enables Virto to meet the growing demand from customers.
Javier Virto, CEO of Virto, said: "The acquisition of Oerlemans will enable us to further improve and strengthen our product range and service to our existing and new customers.
Raoul Vorage, CEO of Oerlemans: "Virto is a market leader in quality, availability and innovation. Joining forces with Virto is a testament to Oerlemans' commitment to providing its customers with the best products and services.
The acquisition creates a global player with a turnover of more than 400 million euros and with a presence in the four main European harvesting areas - Spain, France, Benelux/Germany and Poland. This does not only guarantee the supply and quality of fresh raw materials, but will also increase the variety, quality and volume of the range.
The acquisition will enable both companies to achieve synergy benefits with their specialisations. Virto will be able to expand its product range with fruit and increase its range of organic products. Oerlemans can add an extensive range of Mediterranean products to its portfolio. This will enable the new Group to strengthen its services to its existing and new customers.
With thirteen Centers of Excellence spread across four countries and sales channels in ten countries, the Group is excellently equipped for the improvement and innovation of products and concepts.
