Vegan raw minced meat

  • 15 October 2019

The technology for developing meat substitutes is improving. More and more alternatives are coming onto the market. For example, Nestlé is introducing the Garden Gourmet Incredible Minced Meat; vegan raw minced meat that can be used in the same way as the meat alternative. It looks almost the same as minced beef: this is due to a mix of proteins from soy, plant extracts from beetroot, carrot and paprika.

Innovation

Meat substitutes have been gaining popularity for some time, but are not really known for their taste and meat experience. Nestlé believes it is important to respond to this trend and make it as easy as possible for people to choose a vegetable alternative. That's why Nestlé is committed to the innovation of vegetable alternatives that are similar in taste and texture to the meat varieties. This makes it even easier to choose for a day of vegetation without compromising on taste.

Garden Gourmet Incredible Minced Meat

The new Garden Gourmet Incredible Minced Meat is as versatile and juicy as minced beef. It is easy to shape, making it perfect for turning balls or making skewers that can be seasoned to taste. You can also roll it in the pan to make a delicious lasagna or 'Chili sin carne'.

Nigel van der Horst, Chef met Lef (Chef with Guts), says: "The Garden Gourmet Incredible Minced Meat is a godsend for me in the kitchen, because it works exactly the same as minced beef. Friends and family don't believe it's a vegetable product, I've fooled them several times already."

Just like the Garden Gourmet Incredible Burger, the vegan raw mince looks the same as minced beef. This is due to a mix of proteins from soya, plant extracts from beetroot, carrot and paprika.

New 'meatier' Garden Gourmet Incredible Burger recipe

The technology for developing meat substitutes continues to improve. In order to continuously improve its vegetable range, Nestlé has also updated the recipe for the popular Garden Gourmet Incredible Burger. Nestlé's plant-based nutrition chefs and experts have continued to develop and improve the quality of the burger based on consumer feedback. The juiciness, smoky taste and fleshy texture is now even more evident.
