Vandemoortele plans acquires Délifrance

  • 02 April 2025

Vandemoortele and VIVESCIA have reached an agreement regarding the acquisition of Délifrance. With this step, the Belgian food group aims to acquire one of Europe’s largest producers of frozen bakery products. The combination of both companies will create a global player with an estimated combined turnover of around €2.4 billion.

Délifrance, a subsidiary of VIVESCIA Industries, employs more than 3,200 people, operates 14 production sites, and generated a turnover of approximately €930 million in the financial year ending June 2024. The company is active in Europe and Asia, supplying retailers, foodservice operators, and artisan bakers. Délifrance is known for its French bakery expertise and high-quality frozen products. Vandemoortele has been active in the bakery sector for nearly fifty years and achieves a turnover of approximately €1.4 billion with 3,500 employees and 28 production sites. The group is present in Europe and the United States.

Looking ahead with confidence

The combination of the two companies will result in a broad range of frozen bakery products under brands such as Délifrance, Banquet d’Or, Doony’s, Lanterna, Acquaviva, and Lizzi. Jean Vandemoortele, Chairman of the Board at Vandemoortele, calls it “a historic partnership with a strong strategic and cultural fit.” VIVESCIA also sees potential in the partnership. Chairman Christoph Büren speaks of a new phase of growth within the VIVESCIA 2030 project. Vandemoortele CEO Yvon Guerin emphasizes that the partnership offers additional opportunities for growth, innovation, and customer focus. The completion of the acquisition is expected by the end of 2025, subject to customary approvals, including clearance from the competition authorities.
