Universities take part in 'Well Packaged' project

  • 28 June 2021

Companies make all kinds of considerations when choosing how to package their food product in a sustainable way. Over the next 2 years this choice process will be studied by HAS University together with The Hague University (HHs), the University of Amsterdam (HvA), the Sustainable Packaging Knowledge Institute and a wide group of food and packaging companies.

The aim is to help companies throughout the food chain to choose the most sustainable solution when it comes to product-packaging combinations. The focus of the project is on product-packaging combinations in the AGF sector (fruit and vegetables) and ready-to-eat meals/meal components (soups, meals, snacks). Within the research the choices that a company could make and how a company can communicate about these choices to consumers are mapped out.

Companies and industry associations affiliated with the consortium are: AKSV, Maître, Henri, Van Oordt, Eosta, Green Specialties Holland, GreenCo, GetPact, Trioworld, Bunzl, StarCuisine, Treasure Dim Sum Products and Royal Smilde.
