The Taste Academy Achterhoek is committed to sustainable, regional and healthy food. With support from the province of Gelderland, the Taste Academy is introducing students to the Achterhoek food sector. The goal is more professionals and innovation in the food industry. The collaboration with entrepreneurs and educational institutions is now being expanded to include higher vocational education.
Professionals from the field and teachers of Graafschap College, Zone College, Van Hall Larenstein, Saxion University and the partnership of Profijtscholen work together in the Taste Academy Achterhoek to develop new products for the food sector. From soil to mouth! This is how the Achterhoek kitchen of the future is being developed: Achterhoek Food.
Through the Taste Academy students get to know the food chain, from farmer to the store. At the Taste workshops, master classes, excursions and through lessons, internships and graduation theses, they learn how to deal with the latest techniques and how to work together in a food chain. Until now, this has only been done in cooperation with institutions that offer vocational and secondary education, but there is an increasing need for professionals at the higher vocational education level. Project leader Maurits Steverink: 'The Achterhoek Food Sector offers many opportunities for HBO graduates who want to do business with sustainable, healthy and regional food.
Provincial Executive Peter Kerris: 'The Taste Academy trains new talent for the food industry of tomorrow. A sustainable and honest food chain in which education and entrepreneurs work closely together on the food of the future'.
