In Maastricht, Aan de Stegge Twello has started the construction of a delivery service distribution centre for wholesaler Sligro. After the successful cooperation in the construction of the delivery service distribution centre in Deventer, Aan de Stegge Twello was also commissioned to realise the branch in Maastricht.
Sligro is optimising its national logistics network of distribution centres for deliveries to Sligro and Heineken customers. This will be achieved partly by increasing capacity at existing locations, partly by relocation and partly by the addition of completely new branches to the network. This new branch in Maastricht will have South Limburg as its catchment area. The new building will be realised on a plot of 40,039 m2 on the Habitatsingel, close to the A2 motorway. The building covers 16,703 m2 , of which 15,223 m2 of commercial space (refrigeration, freezing and forwarding) with a cold store of no less than 3,625 m2 and 1,480 m2 of office space. The design came about with Omni Architects from Schijndel and Ingenieursbureau Verhoeven and Leenders from Volkel.
The modern new building will be equipped with the latest sustainable techniques and will be realized without gas. Heating takes place by heat recovery from the central cooling system. Water saving facilities, LED lighting and a wadi for the storage and infiltration of water on site will be used. The workstations are of high quality in terms of ventilation and daylight. The building is also made suitable for the use of PV panels. In combination with even more sustainable applications and building methods, the aim is to achieve a 'BREEAM Excellent' certification. The new distribution centre for Sligro will be completed in 2019 just before Christmas.
