Process optimisation at Zandvliet

  • 10 November 2020

At the beginning of October, Sismatec installed a completely new Treif Twister SP+ at the company Zandvliet in Delft. Zandvliet has been working for years with various Treif dicing machines, including some very old ones. "We started talking to Sismatec because they are supplier of and maintain our Treif dicing machines", says Sander van der Velden, Operations Director at Zandvliet Vleeswaren in Delft. "The almost 20 year old machines started to require more maintenance anyway. Together with Sismatec we investigated how we could optimise the various cutting processes, and where possible improve the quality".

They made a thorough inventory of the different sizes of cubes and strips that are cut, determined what capacities are needed and what quantities are made on a weekly basis. "For example, we cut certain products directly from the frozen stock. With the new Twister SP+ we don't have to deliver frozen products so deep; this seriously saves us a lot of energy, i.e. money". By applying new cutting techniques, Zandvliet Vleeswaren achieves a higher line output and the cubes and strips look even tighter. Sander: "I would like to thank Sismatec and Treif for this instructive process, and for the pleasant constructive way of approaching projects.
