In a world where quality reigns supreme, Dutch catering butcher Nice to Meat has left the global culinary scene in awe. At the recent World Steak Challenge, often dubbed the 'Oscars for steak', this Almere-based enterprise wiped the floor with its competitors, taking home an impressive eleven awards.
With eight gleaming gold medals, two silvers, and one bronze, the butchery, active for over a century, has truly demonstrated that their philosophy – prioritizing quality over quantity – pays off in spades. Their dedication shone across various categories. From the supremely exclusive Japanese wagyu beef to the mold-aged Swiss LUMA-beef, every submission from Nice to Meat radiated excellence.
"A cascade of awards like this is one of the finest compliments we could receive," says a proud Mikel Pouw, the director of Nice to Meat. While the profusion of awards was staggering, they didn't come as a complete surprise to the team. Pouw elaborates, "For years, we've poured our heart and soul into delivering the world's best and most delicious meat to the plates of Dutch aficionados. It's incredibly motivating to see our hard work recognized in this manner. We anticipated accolades, but never imagined receiving such a myriad of awards."
The pinnacle of this culinary journey is yet to come. From the gold medalists, the 'World's Best Steak' will be selected in London this November. And with eight steaks in contention, Nice to Meat is undeniably the front-runner.
