Sustainability…it seems to be the magic word in all market sectors. It is an essential topic for the food chain since the global demand for food is set to rise dramatically in the years ahead. So KIM Nederland has sufficient reason to focus on topics which contribute to improved sustainability.
Preventing food from being wasted, such as due to an unnecessarily early best-before date for example, is an important sustainability objective. By developing carefully thought-out concepts it is possible to achieve a closed cold chain and minimum bacterial growth – a so-called ‘high-care incubator’. This enables the best-before date to be extended significantly, which in turn reduces food waste. Advisors from KIM work closely with customers to ensure that optimal results are achieved.
'More sustainability in the construction sector…thanks to well-considered concepts'
Saving energy has been a second focal point of the company for years. By using PIR foam in highly effective insulation panels in thicknesses of up to 220mm, the company attains insulation values of up to Rc > 11m2K/W. Furthermore, the KIM insulation panel is one of the few PIR panels which are BS1D0-certified. This means that in addition to the panel having very good fire-retardant properties, minimal smoke is produced if a fire should occur. This is not only better for the environment but also safer for the people inside the building.
Needless to say, KIM Nederland works in accordance with the highest BREEAM standard, ‘Outstanding’. In the case of new-build projects, this standard covers the origin of products, recyclability, the cradle-to-cradle principle, the energetic return on investment of products and the distance travelled by the assembly workers involved in the construction project. Thanks to its strong network of own builders nationwide, KIM Nederland is in an unrivalled position to meet that requirement.
