The supply of milk by Dutch dairy farmers to dairy factories in the Netherlands in the first four months of this year amounted to almost 4.7 billion kilograms. That is 2 percent less than in the same period last year. In April, 1.2 billion kilos of milk were delivered to dairies, 0.8 percent less than in April 2020. This is evident from an analysis by our editors of recently published figures by the CBS from the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO).

Production of skimmed milk powder substantially higher and non-skim milk powder substantially lower

Dutch dairies showed varying developments in their dairy production during the first four months of this year. In particular, the production of non-skim milk powder decreased by 34.5 percent from almost 65 million kilograms in the period January-April 2020 to 42.5 million kilograms in the same period of 2021. The production of skimmed milk powder, on the other hand, increased substantially during this period by +10.5 percent to almost 30 million kilograms.

Furthermore, in the first four months of this year, the production of dairy products was mainly higher. For example, the production of butter in this period increased by 14.1 percent to 51.6 million kilograms, factory cheese by 4.7 percent to 325.8 million kilograms and condensed milk by 13.1 percent to 128.5 million kilograms.
