To reduce its climate impact, Lidl announces that it is the first national food chain to stop bringing in fruit and vegetables by air. By taking this step, Lidl is reducing CO2 emissions released when transporting products.
Quirine de Weerd Senior Manager Corporate Social Responsibility and Relations Lidl Netherlands: "We are committed to meeting the Paris Climate Agreement. This decision contributes to our sustainability goals and suits us as a sustainable, efficient and cost-conscious organisation."
At Lidl, depending on the season, almost all products in the fruit and vegetable department come from Dutch soil. A short chain and sustainable cooperation with its farmers and growers ensure that Lidl can offer the best quality for the lowest price to its customers.
