KIDV launches innovation platform

  • 21 May 2019

In collaboration with the Community of Sustainable Packaging Innovators, the Knowledge Institute for Sustainable Packaging (KIDV) launched THE innovation platform in the field of packaging and recycling. This means great news for startups, scale-ups or new partnerships in the field of sustainable packaging. They will be able to benefit from the advantages offered by the Community from 20 May onwards.

The reason for setting up the Community is the transition to a circular economy, aimed at the maximum use and re-use of raw materials in the various links of the production chain. "We see numerous opportunities and possibilities for new innovations in this transition," says project leader Daphne van den Berg. "However, it is still quite a challenge to make the most of these opportunities."

The main objective of the Community is therefore to link sustainable packaging or recycling innovations to relevant market players in order to meet this challenge together. "The startups and scale-ups are introduced by us into the most interesting network of brand owners, sorters and recyclers and private investors," says Van den Berg. "By doing so, we provide a platform for innovative ideas and help each other to further close the packaging chain.

In addition, the KIDV helps the innovations with up-to-date, substantive support. Van den Berg: "It is impossible for startups and scale-ups to acquire all the knowledge about the packaging chain and its players personally, while their innovations are very valuable for the packaging chain. Knowledge is shared both through (exclusive) meetings and through mutual question-and-answer sessions with KIDV packaging experts. The members of the Community are also invited to regular meetings of the KIDV, where relevant market parties are present.

The Community meetings also provide an opportunity for participants to share their experiences, opportunities and bottlenecks. Each time, the focus is on a different subject, such as recyclability or business opportunities. "This knowledge sharing and cooperation will enable us to scale up the sustainability of packaging even further," says Van den Berg.

In addition, the Community offers exposure via a digital platform, which will be developed and delivered in the summer of 2019. Each innovation receives personal attention via its own page on this platform.
