NWO announces the KIC call "Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture, Horticulture, Water and Food," expected to be published in August 2023. Researchers, companies and civil society organizations are invited to explore the frontiers of AI and discover innovative applications within these vital sectors.
The water, agriculture, horticulture and food sectors have a lot of automatically acquired data, but AI is still little used. The call aims to explore knowledge questions on the use of AI systems in these sectors, focusing on optimization of production processes and solutions for climate change, human and animal welfare, and water and food safety.
Consortia must work on two of the following three topics:
To achieve successful development and application of AI in the above sectors, interdisciplinary collaboration is important. Research integrates at least two of the three fields of science (alpha, beta, gamma), which always includes the beta sciences. Here, researchers from different scientific disciplines merge their knowledge and expertise. This leads to integrated knowledge.
