As of Monday 23 May 2022, palm oil may again be exported from Indonesia. This decision should reduce prices for palm oil and increase supply. At the end of April 2022, Indonesia introduced an export ban on palm oil. In this way, the government wanted to prevent shortages from occurring in the country itself.
The country's government actually planned to lift the ban only when the price of palm oil reached a maximum of 14,000 Indonesian rupiah (0.91 euro) per liter. The target has not yet been reached, but the price is expected to fall in the coming weeks as the supply of palm oil grows.
