  • 07 April 2021

Handtmann Group has acquired Verbufa BV with effect from 1 April 2021. Handtmann Machinefabriek from Biberach in Baden-Württemberg is part of Handtmann Group and is the world's largest supplier of solutions for portioning, dosing, forming and coextruding of food products. Verbufa has been the exclusive Handtmann partner in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg for over 55 years. The takeover is the result of a long-standing partnership.

Strong positioning

The takeover provides benefits for both partners. "The integration of Verbufa into our group of companies is an important strategic step for even stronger positioning," says Thomas Handtmann, Managing Partner of the family-owned company, "the food industry is undergoing profound change in terms of digitalisation, globalisation and individualisation and thus changing customer needs." Harald Suchanka, CEO of Handtmann, emphasises, "After acquiring Inotec last year, we are now consistently taking the next step to be able to offer our customers total solutions. Verbufa brings specialist industry knowledge and experience in developing creative and innovative customised solutions for customers."

Future

Mark Marrink will remain responsible for the development of customer-specific solutions for Handtmann from Amersfoort. In addition, his role will be Chief Business Development & Innovation Officer for the Handtmann Filling and Portioning Systems division, where he will be globally engaged in developing innovative total solutions and trends within the industry. Marc Fortuin will take over from Marrink as General Manager within Verbufa.

The merger of both companies will generate a high degree of innovative power for process-oriented concepts and solutions in the field of forming, dosing, coextrusion and process automation. "I am convinced that the umbrella network and our joint market knowledge will be of great added value to our customers all over the world," says Mark Marrink.

Verbufa will continue to be responsible for the Dutch and Belgian markets and, apart from Handtmann, will also continue to represent the brands Laska, Fessmann, Baader, Garos, Glass and Verbufa's own machines, with the accompanying service, technical and technological support.
