FUMI: Half a million for natural protein substitutes

All over the world a vegetable alternative to chicken egg protein has been sought for years. FUMI Ingredients, a spin-off of Wageningen University & Research, has found a natural alternative that is cheaper than regular chicken egg protein. The company develops functional ingredients based on micro-organisms. Innovation Industries and SHIFT Invest together invest half a million euros, enabling FUMI to produce the vegan proteins on a larger scale.

FUMI Ingredients will use the investment to realise their scaling ambitions and accelerate their access to the market. Both SHIFT Invest and Innovation Industries look forward to helping the company take the next steps in the commercialisation of their ingredients.
