Finalists Amsterdam Food Pitch 2019

  • 22 April 2019

On Friday 19 April, the professional jury announced the 12 finalists of the Amsterdam Food Pitch. More than 77 enthusiastic participants have applied to compete for the coveted title 'Delicious product of 2019'. The big question which product will be on the shelves of De Kweker will be answered on 14 June. You can take part in the decision making via the website of Amsterdam Food Pitch.

On Wednesday 10 April, the professional jury, consisting of Tjitze van der Dam (Waldorf Astoria, 24-hour chefs), Marjan Ippel (Talkin' Food, journalist and food trend watcher), Gert Blaauw (managing director De Kweker), Karin Richter (Mrs Hamersma), Nancy van Batenburg (editor-in-chief of online platform Culy.nl) and Henk Marsé van De Bijenkorf, subjected the longlist to an extensive review. Today, the jury will announce the finalists to the general public, after which the online voting process will start. The public votes account for 25% of the final assessment. All finalists have included a product pitch. These videos are now available for viewing.

Finalists Amsterdam Food Pitch 2019

This is them: the finalists of the second edition of Amsterdam Food Pitch. Vote for your favorite!

Amsterdam Tinto - Wiebe van den Ende

This high quality wine cocktail is only made with the best ingredients such as fresh grapefruit and kinabast. It is a real quality wine from Germany combined with a special syrup that is made in Amsterdam. A perfect alternative to beer, wine and sweet mixed drinks.

True Food Flavours - Dave Hurkmans

True Food Flavours are powders made from fresh fruit and vegetables. It is a healthy and natural alternative to give basic products a special taste and/or colour. Think of sauces and soups or as litter for fries, popcorn and vegetables. Only your imagination is your limitation!

't Gebbetje - Lars Meekel

Lars started with the development of a primal Amsterdam candy, 't Gebbetje, to compete with the Haagse Hopje! A candy from The Hague in catering establishments in Amsterdam; that has to be done differently, of course! 't Gebbetje is a special mix of flavours and spices.

Boeren van Amstel - Kees Hogenhout

Boeren van Amstel is milk the way milk is meant to be: not skimmed and therefore tastes nice and creamy. A regional product that takes account of nature by protecting the meadow birds in the Amstelland region.

Tartar - Catho Goossens

Tartar is a traditional basic mixture that allows you to easily prepare a tasty steak tartar. It is a fully handmade product and contains all the basic ingredients such as capers, gherkins, worcestersauce and tabasco.

Deer meatballs - Thomas van Meel

These traditional meatballs made from red deer from the Oostvaardersplassen are delicious and durable. Thomas decided not to let the meat of the deer from this area go to waste and to use it for his product. In this way he makes deer meat accessible to the consumer.

Plant Based Cheese - Brad Vanstone

As a vegan, you may be very fond of cheese and would rather not cut it out of your life. Luckily you don't have to anymore! Brad has been looking for a vegetable-based alternative to cheese. This is not only tasty, but also environmentally friendly.

Choonk - Doreen Westphal

Choonk are grilled juicy pieces made from rescued oyster mushroom feet. These pieces have a natural bite and are available in three different flavours. Ideal for use in wraps, poké bowls, as a topping for pizza or to wok.

MATTIES - Elze Schaap

Elze's candy without junk, the MATTIES, consist of dried fruit mats and have an intense (fruit) taste. They are handmade from pure fruit with no added sugar and are available in four fruit flavours: strawberry, mango, raspberry and apple pie.

Macao Beans - Malou Dronkers

Macao Beans are caramelized cocoa beans roasted in their own skin. These come directly from the Solomon Islands and are processed by Malou in Amsterdam into Crunchy Caramelized Cocoa Beans.

Hot On The Tongue 'Hot Ginger' - Freddie Vialle

This Shizzlefris Hot On The Tong Soda is made from fresh ginger, cane sugar, lemon, and fresh peppers. First you taste it sweet, but then the pepper will clap through your mouth, briefly but powerfully. This gives a nice spicy boost!

Montgomery's Vegan Ice Cream - Taco Bos

Montgomery's Vegan ice cream makes even non-vegetable goose happy because it is just as delicious as traditional ice cream, but without chemical additives and without the taste of soy or coconut. Sustainable ice cream that makes you happy.

Until the final, the products and creators are put in the spotlight in various ways, both online and offline. On 14 June 2019, the finalists will present their products to the professional jury. The vote of the professional jury will be decisive, after which the winner will be announced during the final.
