Efficiency all along the line

  • 10 March 2015

At Anuga FoodTec (24-27 March 2015 in Cologne, Germany) Multivac presented various innovations: new machines which are characterised by intelligent processing and control technologies. The result: optimal efficiency, both in the smaller vacuum machines and on a fully automatic high-end packaging line.

The main highlight on the Multivac stand was a turnkey fully automatic end-to-end packaging line which meets the highest demands in terms of flexibility, ergonomic design and precision. Marketing Manager Marcel van den Berge explains: “The line comprises a type R245 thermoforming packaging machine which uses considerably less packaging material thanks to optimised tooling.

The machine also has a new tool change system to reduce downtime and hence keep the equipment operational for longer. It is fitted with a thermotransfer printer which prints directly on the top film. Two cross web labellers are installed at the end of the line.” The packs are converged by an integrated MBS 100 belt system, the weight is verified using an MR 822 checkweigher and the subsequent stacking of the packs is carried out by an MPS 302 pack stacker – all of which are produced in-house by Multivac.

Vacuum packaging
Also on display at Anuga FoodTec was the thermoforming packaging machine R105 MF. Marcel: “MF stands for 'MultiFresh': vacuum skin packs. The R105 is a very compact entry-level model. As part of the MultiFresh concept, we’ve also introduced our own MultiFresh film: a combination which guarantees an optimal packaging result.” Another notable innovation was the T300, an automatic traysealer for processing medium-sized and large batches which can process trays with a height of up to 140 mm (the standard is 110 mm). The T300 features a thermal transfer printer which prints directly on the seal film.

New
A further innovative machine at Anuga FoodTec was the T600 which can produce both modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) and vacuum skin packs. The T600 leads onto a Baseline L301 conveyor belt labeller and a metal detector. A new addition to the Baseline series is the Baseline P600 double chamber vacuum machine which includes plug-in sealing bars among other things.

Small and flexible
The smallest of the chamber machines on display was the B210. “This is a flexible machine which can be adapted to the customer's needs,” says Marcel. Furthermore a selection of marking and inspection products was presented, including a Multivac X-ray and various conveyor belt labellers.
