The results of cold stores have been increasing for some years but reached a peak during the corona crisis, according to a Rabobank sector forecast. As a result of the closure of the hospitality sector and export restrictions, Dutch cold stores are completely full of fries, snacks, meat and fish, among other things. This is a trend that can be seen throughout the storage sector. This extreme situation will change now that the hospitality industry is back on track, but demand will remain high. For fear of a second wave of viruses, many companies will want to safeguard storage capacity as a precaution, so that the results for the cold stores will remain at a high level until at least the end of 2021, with quarterly turnover growth of 10 percent compared to 2019. The low energy prices are also helping to achieve this.
