Coca-Cola starts with KeelClip™ packaging

  • 20 November 2019

On Monday 18 November, Coca-Cola announced the introduction of the KeelClip™. This is a new minimalist cardboard packaging for multipacks cans. Coca-Cola saves 350,000 kilos of new plastic per year in the Netherlands. 14 million euros has been invested in the local factory in Dongen for a new can line and packaging machine, which will make it possible to use this innovative packaging as of next year. The packaging will be launched on the Dutch market in the first half of 2020, making Coca-Cola the first in the world with this innovation.

Jaap Wassink, VP & Country Director of Coca-Cola European Partners Netherlands: "We are working to make our packaging as sustainable as possible. This is not new; we have been working on it for years. Think for example of making our packaging lighter and increasing the use of recycled material. The step to now also use minimalist cardboard packaging for multipacks is a very important one in further reducing the use of packaging material.”
