The government wants to legally restrict child marketing for unhealthy food. For healthy food and drink, advertising aimed at minors will continue to be allowed. In addition, municipalities will be given a new legal power allowing them to bar the entry of unhealthy food providers in certain places. To combat obesity, the government invests in making places where children spend a lot of time healthier and promotes sports and exercise.
Besides preventing overweight, extra attention is also given to supporting people who are overweight or obese. Over the next three years, 62 million euros will be available to give a major boost to better help and guidance for overweight and obese children. Further investments will also be made in the Combined Lifestyle Intervention. With this approach, which is reimbursed from the basic health insurance package, people are helped by a lifestyle coach to live healthier lives.
