Change in tariffs of NVWA for inspections in slaughterhouses

  • 04 November 2021

Minister Schouten of LNV has decided that the fees for inspections and monitoring in slaughterhouses will not cover the costs, but will increase by a maximum of 2.4%. This percentage is based on the weighted average of the 'salary rate for the public sector' and the 'price of material government consumption' from the Macro Economic Outlook 2022 by the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis.

The €900,000 in costs of the NVWA activities that have arisen due to the introduction of extra risk-oriented inspections at slaughterhouses will be passed on to the business sector as from 2022. These costs were not yet passed on in 2021 to give the companies concerned the opportunity to adjust their business operations accordingly.

In addition to the existing tariff for small slaughterhouses that slaughter up to 125 livestock units or 18,750 pieces of poultry per quarter, there is a second category for which a reduced tariff applies. The NVWA also applies a reduced rate to slaughterhouses that slaughter up to 250 livestock units or 37,500 units of poultry per quarter.

The rate for the technical management of e-CertNL decreases from EUR 6.30 to EUR 5.75 per certificate due to an increase in the number of certificates. In addition to the changes in fees, there are also changes to the content of this amendment scheme. This concerns the introduction of a few new fees. These have hardly any financial consequences.
