Beyond Meat Introduces Beyond Steak in the Netherlands

  • 15 January 2024

Beyond Meat unveils Beyond Steak® for the first time in the Netherlands during the Horecava 2024. This launch follows the recent introduction of Beyond Chicken-Style products, extending the range committed to offering plant-based products/proteins that are indistinguishable in taste from animal meat, with the additional nutritional and environmental benefits of plant-based meat. Beyond Steak® will soon be available at Hanos and other foodservice points.

Beyond Steak® brings an innovative approach to the juicy, tender texture, and delightful taste of seared steak tips. Crafted to appeal to meat-eaters, flexitarians, vegetarians, and vegans alike, it has garnered praise and multiple awards in other countries. Now, Dutch restaurants can incorporate Beyond Steak® into their sandwiches, bowls, salads, stir-fries, fajitas, and other dishes.

Nutritious Features of Beyond Steak®

Composed of plant-based ingredients like fava beans and wheat, Beyond Steak® offers 24g of protein and 182 calories per 100g. With only 1g of saturated fat per serving and no cholesterol, it fits seamlessly into a healthy diet. Moreover, the product is easily portioned and quickly prepared in a skillet. It's not just a culinary win for chefs but also a healthy choice for consumers.

Beyond Chicken-Style Products: An Overview

Since last year, Dutch restaurateurs have access to the Beyond Chicken-Style product range through Hanos, Sligro, and Bidfood. Ranging from Beyond Tenders to Beyond Nuggets, Beyond Schnitzel, and Beyond Burger Chicken-Style, these products offer a crispy exterior and a juicy interior. Suitable for carnivores, flexitarians, vegetarians, and vegans, they are a flavorful addition to various meals, quickly and easily prepared in the oven, skillet, or fryer.

Eat Without Compromising Taste and Principles

A recent report reveals that 49% of Dutch respondents reduced their meat consumption in the past year, with 35% identifying as flexitarians. The primary motivation is better health, followed by concerns about animal welfare. Aligning with the European trend, 34% of respondents express confidence in the taste and quality of plant-based meat products and plan to replace more meat with plant-based alternatives in the next six months.

Harm Dijkstra, Sales Manager Foodservice BeNeFra at Beyond Meat, emphasizes, "The introduction of Beyond Steak® in the Netherlands marks a promising start to the year. The range not only offers the innovative Beyond Steak® but also expands the Beyond Burger Chicken-Style options. This provides restaurants with more choices, allowing everyone to savor their favorite dishes without compromising."
