Beyond Meat, a leading producer of vegetable meat, announces today that it will expand its collaboration with Zandbergen World's Finest Meat. In a new production facility in Zoeterwoude, built by Zandbergen, innovative vegetable meat products from Beyond Meat will be produced. With this collaboration, Beyond Meat marks its first production facility outside the United States. The construction of the factory is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2020. Local production will reduce the company's carbon footprint. At the same time, Beyond Meat can deliver products faster throughout Europe.
"The response of consumers in Europe to the products is positive and we look forward to serving those customers better with locally produced products. We are pleased to have strong strategic partners, such as Zandbergen, in Europe to help us increase our global presence," said Seth Goldman, Executive Chairman of Beyond Meat.
Zandbergen World's Finest Meat started distributing Beyond Meat's products across Europe last year, both in food service and retail. "As the demand for vegetable products continues to grow in Europe, we are very excited to be able to work with Beyond Meat to produce their innovative products outside the United States," said Adriaan Figee, Chief Commercial Officer of Zandbergen World's Finest Meat.
The revolutionary Beyond Burger is now available in Albert Heijn in the Netherlands, Delhaize in Belgium and Tesco in the United Kingdom. In addition to these key retailers, Beyond Meat is focused on expanding the availability of its products in hospitality venues across Europe, particularly with popular burger chains and innovative restaurateurs looking for delicious, high quality vegetable meat.
Beyond Meat's mission is to create nutritious, vegetable meat without soy, gluten and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) that tastes good and offers consumers a taste experience that is indistinguishable from animal meat. Beyond Meat is currently distributed internationally through distributors in Australia, Chile, the European Union, Hong Kong, Israel, the Middle East, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan. This makes Beyond Meat's products one of the most widely distributed vegetable meats currently available on the market.
