Fast and safe internal logistics is of great importance in the chilled and frozen food sector because it increases productivity considerably. Optimal climate separation in the open doorway is the best solution.
Clear openings rather than doors between refrigerated areas and frozen storage help to speed up internal logistics but, unless the climates are separated effectively, they can create uncomfortable working environments and/or dangerous situations, such as through the formation of ice or mist. In addition, cold air is lost through the displacement of air between the two areas, thus increasing energy costs. Biddle’s climate solutions achieve optimal climate separation to prevent this problem. Furthermore, the use of waste heat from refrigeration systems means that this solution is optimally aligned with sustainability objectives.
The IsolAir air curtain is ideal to separate two climate zones that are more or less constant. The IsolAir is installed in chilled rooms at manufacturing companies and distribution centres, and also in small cold stores in supermarkets. Thanks to semi-automatic regulation the IsolAir always operates in the right mode and is therefore highly efficient.
The IsolAir chilled room air curtain achieves excellent climate separation between the ambient area and the cold store. In combination with a high-speed door, the IndAC2 is the perfect solution to achieve climate separation between the freezer warehouse and the air-conditioned ambient area. The air drawn in from the ambient area is blown out in a laminar air stream at low speed all the way down to the ground to form an optimal separation between the two rooms.
In the case of open doors, Biddle’s MAT air curtain for frozen storage achieves optimal climate separation between the cold store and the ambient area, thus maintaining a constant temperature in the frozen storage area. Moreover this solution facilitates a clear passageway, considerably reducing the formation of ice and mist, and it saves 52% of energy costs compared with an open door.
Supported by extensive research such as on-site measurements, monitoring, thermographic analysis and calculations, each customer receives insights into the benefits of climate separation in their specific situation. When the air curtain is switched off, cold air flows from the cold store into the ambient area, resulting in energy loss. The refrigeration system has to work very hard to maintain the required temperature in the cold store. When the air curtain is switched on, it creates an optimal barrier between the different climate zones. The result is a safe, open doorway with high energy savings.
