Albron expands in foodservice by acquiring Hutten

  • 15 October 2024

Albron aims to further strengthen its position in the food service industry through the acquisition of Hutten B.V.. For owner Bob Hutten, Albron was a natural choice: “I was looking for an organization that could meaningfully carry forward Hutten’s unique philosophy. My daughters have decided not to take over the business. Albron and Hutten share a similar culture and ideals, and we connected on that level. It’s also a place where our team will feel at home.”

For Albron, this acquisition aligns with a broader ambition to expand its social and sustainable impact. Jan Willem Hilbron, Albron’s Managing Director, emphasizes that this partnership enhances their ability to make a difference together: “Albron and Hutten are driven by a shared commitment to doing good. Our approach is the same: in everything we do, we want to create positive outcomes for all involved. We warmly welcome Hutten’s colleagues, and I am confident that together we can have an even greater impact.”

A partnership for greater impact

The collaboration is grounded in a shared mission to promote social responsibility and sustainable growth. Founded in 1899, Albron is the Netherlands' oldest steward-owned organization and is dedicated to mission-driven entrepreneurship. Hutten has made a meaningful contribution to food service for 95 years, with a strong focus on sustainability, health, and social equality. By joining forces, they expect to amplify their societal impact. Initiatives such as the Sign Language Coffee Bar and De Verspillingsfabriek will continue to advance a sustainable future and social inclusion. Employees from both organizations will maintain continuity and benefit from new development opportunities within the merged company.

Albron and Hutten’s capabilities are highly complementary. Albron brings extensive experience in operating food concepts and brands in the leisure industry, while Hutten is known for its culinary and creative approach to catering, supported by its own artisan kitchen. Through this acquisition, Hutten’s brands—such as Hutten food & design and House of Inclusion—will be preserved, enabling Albron to broaden its service offering.

With a mission to provide 250,000 guests with healthy, delicious, and affordable food, Albron sees this acquisition as a step toward increasing its social value. By gaining access to Hutten’s network of sustainable farmers and the production capacity of the Hutten Culinary Center, Albron aims to enhance the quality, innovation, and sustainability of its offerings.
