A sweet world without waste with banana sweetener

  • 21 January 2021

Fooditive BV and Frutco AG enter into a partnership to bring the Fooditive® banana sweetener line to Europe. The banana sweetener line is a continuous fermentation plant that processes by-products from banana processing, but also from other tropical fruits, into fruit extracts and sweeteners. Through this collaboration, the companies aim to create a new sweet world, one that is healthier and resource-efficient.

Construction of biodiesel plant

To further strengthen efforts to combat climate change and achieve a more circular economy, the companies are building a biodiesel plant to process various types of wastes and residues that can process all banana and tropical fruit residue streams, including by-products from food processing, waste from the food industry and non-food crops grown on marginal lands.

Sustainable future

Frutco AG's commitment to sustainability and its promise to provide the world with a sustainable plant-based sweetener will lead to better health for all of us and elimination of CO2 emissions in the supply chain.

"Years ago, we made it our mission to be 100% sustainable by 2030 in order to contribute to a better world. Together with Fooditive, we are currently expanding our product range and creating a new sweet world, one that is healthier and resource efficient. We are confident that this project will enable us to reach further milestones by continuing our commitment to conserving resources, protecting the environment and improving the health of many people." Claudia Lauener Hofer COO, Frutco AG

"With this project we are committed to a better future for the world, a world where we use all types of residual fruit and vegetable streams to improve people's lives. This project together with Frutco AG is a promise to deliver a product that meets the highest standards with the best trading partners," said Moayad Abushokhedim - CEO, Fooditive B.V.

The project will start in January 2021 and the plant will be commissioned in mid 2022.
