Food safety is a common thread running through the entire food industry. Whether you’re a food manufacturer, equipment supplier, involved in cleaning and disinfection or an insurance company who is asked to cover recalls, it’s an integral part of our ‘food life’. It affects everyone, and that includes all the members of our network.
That’s why food safety is an annually recurring theme in our magazine and why we also focus on it throughout the year with OSV mini congresses. Producing safe food is a continuous process and that requires continuous attention. We all want to be sure that our food is safe to eat.
In that case, rather than being afraid of our competitors, we must be brave enough to make use of one another’s strengths. You can’t do it alone. And where else can you obtain the necessary knowledge? “From the internet,” I hear you say. But is that enough? What about events – ones at which you often learn even more while networking and sharing experiences with colleagues and competitors than you do from the high-quality speakers themselves. That’s why you should look beyond the internet: sparring, sharing, knowing!
Even we – as publisher and network facilitator – can’t do it alone; we can’t meet all your needs. A number of our fellow publishers organise very interesting events that are definitely worth a visit. In September you can bring yourself up to date during the MFC-Event, which will be covering the themes of ‘Food Factory of the Future’ and ‘Reputational Damage Caused by Food Fraud’, and in October during the VMT FoodSafety Event. And in November OSV takes things a step further during the mini congress on ‘Risk Assessment in Relation to Food Fraud’.
So get out of your office, head into the big wide world and learn from one another.
