All industry must be gasless by 2050. 30 years seems a long time and you might postpone this transition process for a while. Scharff Techniek gives six reasons why you should start thinking about a climate-neutral 2050 today and explains how you can make steam production more sustainable.
There are various options for making steam production more sustainable, ranging from hydrogen, biomass and geothermal heat to electrification. So what choice do you make? The Roadmap for the Electrification of Industry has calculated that electrification will meet at least 60% of the industry's total needs in 2050. This calculation makes it clear that industry can already make investments now that are robust for the future.
In the field of steam production, electric steam boilers or e-boilers are a good alternative to achieve sustainability through electrification. Scharff Techniek has a lot of experience with this and has been supplying and installing this type of boiler for more than 10 years.
The construction of the right infrastructure sometimes takes a lot of time. An electric steam boiler is connected to the electricity network. There are a number of bottlenecks in that network, causing a long waiting list in some areas. Contact your energy supplier to find out if an electrical connection is possible, and the maximum capacity that can be supplied.
The government is currently stimulating electrification through subsidy schemes. Via a scheme such as the EIA, infrastructure and assembly costs, in addition to the purchase of the actual equipment, are also eligible for subsidy.
The costs of using natural gas will increase in the future due to scarcity, for example. In the short term, costs are already rising due to the introduction of the CO2 levy, whereby industrial companies are obliged to pay tax per tonne of CO2 emitted. This amount increases annually to stimulate companies to take real CO2-saving measures.
Don't forget the changing buying behaviour of the market. Sustainable products and production are becoming increasingly important to consumers. How will this trend develop in the next 10 years?
Expanding or moving to another location? New business parks do not always have a gas connection any more. Find out in advance whether the new site will be provided with a gas connection.
