As one of Europe's largest meat importers and producer of high quality meat products, Zandbergen World's Finest Meat is pleased to announce that they will represent Beyond Meat in Europe. The California-based start-up is widely recognized as the leader in the vegetable meat category and, after explosive growth in the American market, is now expanding into Europe.
Zandbergen World's Finest Meat, in Zoeterwoude, will start offering Beyond Meat's renowned Beyond Burger® to food service customers throughout Europe, with the exception of Germany and the United Kingdom, in July.
"The European market represents significant opportunities for Beyond Meat and we are very excited to work with one of Europe's leading meat distributors to enter the market," said Beyond Meat CEO and founder Ethan Brown.
The revolutionary Beyond Burger is the first plant-based citizen who looks, fries and tastes like meat, so that it is sold on the shelf with the fresh meat in American supermarkets.
"As a family business, we are committed to creating and maintaining a long-term relationship with our customers and suppliers. If we want to maintain our leading role in the meat industry, we will have to anticipate the changing pattern of consumer consumption," explains Joris Zandbergen. "In the long term, we see a future for ourselves as a supplier that deals with the protein needs of consumers, rather than just being active as a meat supplier.
Adriaan Figee, CCO of Zandbergen World's Finest Meat adds: "With Beyond Meat we have found an innovative partner whose products are revolutionary. For consumers who are looking for various protein options, Beyond Meat is the solution. We strongly believe in their products. Because these products resemble and taste like meat, it is also a very good option for flexiarians."
Beyond Meat, which includes Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio and multinational Tyson Foods among its investors, is working to change what we eat by replacing animal proteins with vegetable proteins. Beyond Meat aims to have a positive impact on four growing global concerns: public health, environment, natural resources and animal welfare. Beyond Meat's portfolio of groundbreaking products is already available in more than 27,000 supermarkets and restaurants in the United States, as well as in Hong Kong and Australia.
