During the Horecava, Van Loon Group will introduce under a new label 'The Blue Butcher', an extensive range of innovative meat substitutes to build a 'no meat of today' society. With this new label, Van Loon Group responds to the increasing demand from the market for alternatives to meat that, in terms of taste, experience and nutritional values, deserve their place alongside animal proteins. A total of six product variants have been conceived, a selection of which can be seen, smelled and especially tasted at the ENKCO stand at the Horecava from 13 to 16 January 2020 in the RAI in Amsterdam.
The Dutch meat replacement market is growing by 10 percent a year. As a large meat processing company, Van Loon has focused on a strong sustainability agenda in recent years and the time is now ripe to also focus on vegetable proteins. With the vision that food should be fair, honest and sustainable, Van Loon Group decided to develop affordable, recognisable, high-quality meat substitutes for the ENKCO foodservice market.
With The Blue Butcher, Van Loon Group enters the category of meat substitutes as a meat processor and translates its knowledge and expertise into vegetable proteins. Revolutionary in this new concept is that The Blue Butcher's products are almost indistinguishable from meat products. The main ingredients consist of soy and wheat to get the bite and structure of meat. Unique is the colour code blue that has been chosen. With The Blue Butcher, Van Loon Group has created a new category of meat substitutes on the shelf. Blue will soon stand for 'No Meat Inside' and as inspiration for 'no meat today'.
At the Horecava, The Blue Butcher launches the food service range consisting of a burger, minced meat and nuggets. Common products with which you can prepare recognisable dishes. This was chosen because it is pleasant for cooks to be able to replace meat one-on-one with a vegetarian alternative. In addition, the products of The Blue Butcher are affordable, so the price no longer has to be a threshold.
ENKCO offers a lot more besides its burgers and balls. During the Horecava they will present two more new, innovative concepts: Egg Bites and Butcher's Selection. From traditional omelettes to scrambled egg sticks, Egg Bites includes a range of innovative high-quality egg products, without additives made from free-range eggs. Always wanted to save time in the kitchen? With the Butcher's Selection, ENKCO comes up with a range of slow cooked meat products. Delicious, tender pieces of Spareribs, Short Ribs, Beef Brisket and Pork Belly are tasty, fast and of the best quality by pre-cooking.
