The petition eerlijkevleesprijs.nl is online

  • 15 May 2020

The new website eerlijkevleesprijs.nl has recently gone live. This website links Dutch people directly to the petition of the True Animal Protein Price (TAPP) Coalition.

In the past year, the TAPP Coalition has successfully argued that the Netherlands wants a fair and slightly higher meat price. The emphasis on connecting all kinds of groups who have a passionate opinion about this, enabled TAPP to build support in our country (63% of the Dutch support the initiative). In this way, the initiative keeps many partner organisations together who often all want something different. It has now become an influential force for change.

The government also thinks positively about the plan of the TAPP Coalition and sent a bill to the Lower House of Parliament on 22 April by top officials and planning agencies about the positive possibilities of a fair meat price, subsidies for fruit and vegetables and compensation for farmers and low incomes.

Petition

The petition was signed by Jan Terlouw, Herman den Blijker and Miljuschka Witzenhausen, among others. TAPP aims to collect 50,000 signatures as soon as possible so that they can be handed over to Minister Hoekstra, Minister Schouten and the chairmen of all political parties. Aim: to include the proposals for a Fair Meat Prize in as many election programmes as possible, using the income from them (such as cheaper fruit and vegetables).
