As of Monday 5 August, the vegetable hot dog will be available at HEMA. This icon of the future was developed by 2-Michelin-star chef Moshik Roth of vegetable-innovator &samhoud food. With this, HEMA is taking an important step in the trend to offer tasty and sustainable alternatives to meat. The hot dog is 100% vegetable and consists of no less than 9 types of vegetables.
Top chef Moshik Roth is the creative and culinary brain behind the vegetable hot dog. "We want to inspire people to eat more vegetables and we consider it an honour to develop a new icon for HEMA. The objective was not to imitate the current meat variant, but to develop a tasty alternative of vegetables." According to Moshik. In recent years, &samhoud food has specialised in the development of vegetarian vegetable products and is therefore the designated partner in this process.
The colourful vegetable hot dog is 100% vegetable-based and based on no less than 9 types of vegetables with visible pieces of peppers, carrots and aubergines. The hotdog is traditionally made, naturally smoked and contains no unnatural aromas, colours or flavours. The sauce and the sandwich are also vegan. Laurent Willaerts, Managing Director &samhoud food: "Vegetables offer more flavour and are a more sustainable alternative than soy. Vegetables as a basic ingredient made the development process challenging, because there is little existing knowledge available. We are therefore extra proud of this vegetable innovation".
