Early January it was announced that from 11-17 March the second edition of the National Meat Free Week will take place in the Netherlands. Today, all 69 partners of the campaign are officially revealed, including all major retailers, Triodos Bank, Province of Overijssel, Philips and de Bijenkorf.
Isabel Boerdam, initiator of the campaign and chairman of the foundation, is very pleased with this result: "Last year, during the first edition, 53 partners joined, 85% of them join again this year, which shows that the campaign has really had an impact. In addition, 16 new partners have joined the campaign, so the social involvement is high. We are very happy with that!
The partners of the National Meat Free Week are mostly food producers with vegetarian product innovations and vegetable traders such as Eosta, Greenery, Looye, Royal ZON, Smeding and Vezet. In addition, no fewer than 12 major retailers will also participate this year, making the National Meat Free Week visible in their shops and with campaigns. Albert Heijn, Aldi, COOP, DEEN, Ekoplaza, JUMBO, Lidl, Marqt, Natuurwinkel, Odin, PLUS and SPAR have joined the campaign, as have the Bidfood and Sligro wholesalers.
In addition to the many food companies and retailers, this year's National Meat Free Week was also attended by a number of special parties. These included the Green Protein Alliance as founding partner, but also Triodos Bank, which supports the week through its 'Time for real choices' campaign. In addition, the Province of Overijssel with its Agro&Food programme that stimulates companies in the food chain to sustainable innovations, Sodexo that participates with the most catering locations, Deli by Shell & Deli to Go that give the week a position along the highway, Subway and De Bijenkorf that inspire participants with vegetarian options outdoors from the Vegetarian Restaurant Week and finally HelloFresh who makes it easy for the participants with their Veggie Box.
