Early October Hartmann Fleischwaren was added to the ranks of Group of Butchers and now it is the turn of Gmyrek Fleisch- und Wurstwaren.
Group of Butchers was founded in 1997 by Nick Visser and Wilbert Wolfs and supplies meat products to the retail market and the out-of-home market in the Benelux. By selectively acquiring Dutch, Belgian and German family businesses, Group of Butchers continues to expand its product range.
The Gmyrek family's love for sausages dates back to 1904. In that year the great-grandfather of Stephan and Christoph Gmyrek founded a sausage and delicatessen factory in Gliwice, Silesia. After the Second World War, Egon Gmyrek opened the first Silesian sausage production plant in Gifhorn in 1947. In the 1970s and 1971s, the two sons Karl Peter and Klaus Gmyrek joined the company. At this stage it was decided to expand the craft business into a high-performance partner of the food retail trade. Gmyrek initially supplied smoked sausage specialities to this customer group. The growth of the family business in 1975 necessitated the construction of a modern meat factory in Weilandmoor, the current headquarters. Gradually, six further construction phases created even more space for the necessary expansion of the company. In 2014, Gmyrek expanded its production area by another 700 square metres. At the same time, the existing 5,000 m² was gradually renovated and modernised to guarantee the most modern claims of food production. Gmyrek successfully completed this project in 2017.
