Within the subsidy scheme for Energy and Climate Innovation Demonstration (DEI+), a new theme opens up for pilot and demonstration projects aimed at circular economy. You can apply for this as of 1 August 2019. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works has made € 44 million available for this purpose.
The Circular Economy theme is an extension of the theme of recycling and reuse of waste. The use of bio-based raw materials in pilot projects, for example, is now also part of this new theme. It is important that the projects contribute to CO2 reduction. Proposals in the field of recycling, refurbishment and reuse of plastics, textiles, furniture and mattresses are encouraged, and proposals from SMEs are also more than welcome.
With the expansion, the government is promoting the transition to a circular economy. In addition, it is in line with the judgment of the judge in the Urgenda case. The judgment obliges the Netherlands to achieve a greenhouse gas reduction of 25% compared to 1990 by 2020.
It is also in line with the measures in the Climate Agreement. The DEI+ theme supports projects that contribute to the CO2 reduction target for 2020.
The call for proposals is open until 22 September 2020. Projects must be completed by 31 December 2020. The PPC+ is not a tender. RVO.nl handles applications according to the 'first come, first served' principle. Complete project proposals are assessed on the basis of the order in which they are received.
This scheme is one of the measures arising from the € 80 million that the government will make available to the circular economy in 2019 and 2020. Read more about the total package of extra funds for Circular Economy at Rijksoverheid.nl.
