But that's going to change a lot in the coming decade. 5X where and why organic will be booming in the next 10 years, according to Michaël Wilde, director Bionext, the branch organisation of the organic sector. 

Better farmers

Last December, the EU presented the "Green Deal": an investment of hundreds of billions of euros in everything that contributes to a cleaner climate. To become the first climate-neutral continent in the world by 2050. In which great efforts are being made in organic farming. By providing financial support to organic farmers who work together with nature on a daily basis, it will become more attractive to farm in this way. As the organic agricultural sector increases, so will the supply of organic products. 

Less price difference

We see that the price difference between organic and non-organic products decreases as the organic supply in the market grows. Especially for seasonal products. We know that many consumers already want to prefer organic over other products, but that the price sometimes hinders that choice. This development means that consumers will choose the organic variant more quickly. 

Less meat, less quality

More and more people are choosing to eat less meat. And when you eat a piece of meat, you want it to be a good piece. Both in terms of quality, and in terms of circumstances. Organic meat scores 3 stars in the Beter Leven quality mark, which means that consumers buy organic meat more often. 

Connection with your food

The Dutch are looking for more and more connection with their food. They not only want to know where their food comes from, but also how food production contributes to a better world. Not only at home, but also when we go out to eat, we pay attention to this. Entrepreneurs are choosing organic food in their kitchens more often from a conscious and profiling point of view. In restaurants, but also in childcare, hospitals and nursing homes, in more and more places and in more and more kitchens we see organic food. 

More products

Producers increasingly market an organic variant of their product. This allows you to choose organic more often. In addition, many new organic products are coming onto the market. They also respond to lifestyle trends such as vegetable or low-carbohydrate. So you no longer have to choose between your ideals: new products ensure that you can go for both vegetable or low-carb as well as organic.
