Dutch veal finds sales in China

The opening of the Chinese market for Dutch veal was celebrated with a Dutch Veal Event in Beijing on 17 April. The VanDrie Group organised this event together with the Dutch Embassy in China and the Central Organisation for the Meat Sector (COV).  

Last October 2018, the VanDrie Group was the first European veal producer to receive approval to export veal products to China. This makes 2019 the VanDrie Group's year to raise awareness of the veal product in that country. The Dutch veal products are now available in Beijing and Shanghai. Sales channels are retail and food service. In addition to business partners of the VanDrie Group, representatives of the Chinese government and directors of the Chinese Meat Association (CMA) attended the event.  

Marijke Everts (Director Corporate Affairs VanDrie Group) explains that the Dutch Veal Event is the start of a further expansion of VanDrie Group's position in the Chinese market: 'Our starting point is to create maximum customer value. We believe in long-term partnerships. Together with our Chinese partners, we have therefore adopted a targeted strategy to put veal on the map.'.

The VanDrie Group has indicated that it can deal with these market characteristics. Everts: 'We introduce veal from the European kitchen and show that the product also fits in perfectly with the local eating habits and preparation methods. Veal is excellent for use in dishes such as hot pot, noodle soup and stews. Dutch veal also meets the requirements of Chinese consumers: food safety, tracking & tracing and also taste. We are now steadily building up the sales of veal in China. Our customers are enthusiastic'.
