Group of Butchers acquires Schouten Vleeswaren

  • 15 July 2019

Schouten Vleeswaren with its two production sites in Tegelen and Lottum has become part of the Group of Butchers.  With this acquisition, Group of Butchers, one of the leading producers of traditional meat products and cooked meat products, expands its position in traditional sausage and BBQ products.  For Schouten Vleeswaren, merging into the Group of Butchers means a strengthening of the internal organisation and further growth.

The owners of Schouten Vleeswaren, Fred Schouten and his sons Gino and Alex, are very satisfied with their integration into the Group of Butchers. Fred Schouten: "Our family business is now part of the strong team of Group of Butchers. The combination of our strengths guarantees the continuity and growth of our company and makes it possible for us to further improve our high-quality service. In addition, an even more intensive cooperation with retailers is of enormous importance in order to achieve a good result.  Within Group of Butchers we will continue to innovate to serve the consumer with the best traditional sausage specialties. Gino and Alex Schouten add: "We are very pleased with this step and look forward to working closely with the Group of Butchers".

Remko Rosman, CEO of Group of Butchers: "With Schouten Meat Products, which is known for its traditional BBQ sausages and other sausage specialties, we are adding another very nice company to the Group of Butchers. We are very much looking forward to working with the Schouten family to supply our customers with the tastiest products every day and to grow together. By adding Schouten and their beautiful recipes, we are able to produce a nice and distinctive assortment for each retailer separately. In addition, the strong position of Schouten in Foodservice gives us access to a new market".
